Last year there were
two horizontally foldable phones by Huawei named Mate X3 and Mate X5 but the company skipped the 2023 year
for its vertically foldable phones. The last vertically foldable phone by
Huawei was the Huawei Pocket S in 2022. Now some early renders of a new verticaly foldable
model are shared by leakster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo.
Three hues of
the Huawei Pocket 2 are available: a basic black, a
dark purple that resembles leather, and a rococo white that looks marble.
The phone has two
circles on its back, similar to its predecessors: the cover display and the
camera island. This was a 1.04" circular OLED display with 340 x 340
pixels of resolution on the P50 Pocket and Pocket S.
Regarding the camera
setup, the camera island on the Huawei Pocket 2 is equipped with three lenses.
However, specific details about each module remain undisclosed. In the past,
both the P50 Pocket and Pocket S featured a 40MP main camera
and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. Additionally, the P50 model included a unique
32MP camera designed to operate in the ultraviolet spectrum, notably used for
the Sunscreen Test feature.
There is a possibility that Huawei might introduce the Pocket 2 in conjunction with the upcoming Huawei P70 series. While the P60 series was launched in March last year, it's worth noting that Pocket series releases typically occur later in the year.
