After formally
discontinuing the "first Monday of the month" release schedule for
Android updates last year, a new update has been released on the first Monday
of each month.
As usual, Google's
rollouts are notoriously slow, so it may take a few days, if not more before
every single eligible Pixel receives the notification. All Pixels that are
still supported are beginning to receive this one over-the-air.
After installation,
your device will be upgraded to software version UQ1A.240205.002, applicable to
all global models, except the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which will receive UQ1A.240205.004. Verizon models will
uniformly receive UQ1A.240205.002.A1, except for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro,
designated as UQ1A.240205.004.A1. SoftBank Japan models will be updated to
UQ1A.240205.002.B1, except, as anticipated, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which will
be on UQ1A.240205.004.B1.
This comprehensive update brings about general enhancements for system stability and performance across all devices. Specifically for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, there are camera improvements, a resolution for display corruption under certain conditions, and an addressed issue with the outer display on the Pixel Fold. Additionally, Wi-Fi stability and performance on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro have been improved, along with a fix for stability and performance issues associated with "certain third-party apps" on all supported devices.
