For the previous few
years, Asus has released its smartphone portfolio according to a rigid release
timetable. The ROG Phone line targets gamers with flagship specs and larger
screens, while the Zenfone series offers more affordable flagships. Although Asus
is anticipated to release the Zenfone 11 shortly, this may be the first time
the company offers a bigger screen model of its flagship.
Our first glimpse at
the Zenfone 11 Ultra comes from a new leak that Reddit user Td3v1l found while
poring over the most recent ROG 8 firmware update. The images include both the
retail packaging box and a comprehensive spec sheet.
As the name suggests, the Zenfone 11 Ultra appears to be an enlarged variant of the standard Zenfone 11, closely resembling the design of the ROG 8 Pro. Asus seems to be adopting a new strategy, aiming for a wider audience with the Zenfone 11 Ultra's more understated and mainstream design, in contrast to the bold aesthetics of the ROG Phone 8 series.
According to the
leaked specifications, the Zenfone 11 Ultra is set to share most of its key
features with the ROG Phone 8/8 Pro, albeit with a slightly lower screen
refresh rate at 144Hz compared to the ROG Phone 8's 165Hz.
Under the hood, the
Zenfone 11 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset,
coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a generous 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The
device will sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO display, offering a resolution of
1,080 x 2,400 pixels and featuring a punch-hole cutout housing the impressive
32MP front-facing camera. The leaked specifications also reveal a familiar
camera setup, comprising a 50MP main IMX890 sensor, a 32MP telephoto lens with
3x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultrawide lens.
With a claimed capacity of 5,500 mAh, the battery offers both 15W wireless charging and 65W cable charging capability. The colors Eternal Black, Skyline Blue, Misty Gray, Verdure Green, and Desert Sienna will be offered for the Zenfone 11 Ultra.
