Now that Google and
Samsung have made AI technologies a major focus of their most recent smartphone
announcements, it's time for Apple to follow suit. After the company's
financial report, Tim Cook stated on the earnings call that he will discuss
generative AI "later this year."
It is logical to
assume that the features will be unveiled during WWDC in the summer, and then
they will be included in the iPhone 16 lineup in September.
Regarding generative
AI, Tim Cook expressed, "In the realm of generative AI, which I presume is
your area of interest, we have significant ongoing efforts internally, as I've
mentioned previously. Our approach has consistently been to complete our work
before discussing it, avoiding getting ahead of ourselves. We intend to
maintain this approach. However, we have some remarkable developments that we
are eagerly looking forward to sharing later this year."
Siri may employ AI for summarization, intelligent Message answers, and AI across apps like Apple Music, Pages, and Keynote, according to code found in iOS 17.4. It appears that the corporation is not committed to any one AI model; at the moment, it is evaluating both internet-connected and on-device models.
