The Android 14 is already available for Pixel phones, prompting various brands
such as Realme, Vivo, OnePlus, Samsung, and others to disclose their update
roadmap and schedule for eligible devices. Despite being among the first to
introduce Android 13 stable with ColorOS 13 last year, OPPO seems to be taking
a more deliberate approach this time. The unveiling of ColorOS 14 is set to
take place on November 16th at the OPPO Developer Conference.
The user interface receives a makeover with
the Aqua Dynamic design, featuring standardized elements like bubbles and
panels for minimal distraction. The Aquamorgraphic Colouring system now paints
the status bar and on-screen content with suitable hues based on the time of
day. Always On Display receives a new Go Green style, and Bitmoji stickers
automatically update throughout the day based on location, activities, weather,
and context.
Smart Touch is a new addition, facilitating
the selection of text, images, and videos from native and third-party apps,
storing them in the File Dock—a clipboard that syncs content across ColorOS
devices. Snapchat users benefit from lock screen shortcuts and a Shelf widget
for quick access and updates.
The notable enhancements in the system include
an upgraded Trinity Engine and the introduction of ROM Vitalization, accessible
in the Phone Manager settings. ROM Vitalization employs App Compression and
File Compression to compress app and file data, freeing up to 20GB of storage
on smartphones with this capability. Additionally, RAM Vitalization improves
memory performance by overhauling Android's RAM mechanism, leveraging OPPO's
technologies. This results in a 10% increase in usage fluidity and the ability to
maintain frequently used apps in the background for up to 72 hours. CPU
Vitalization utilizes advanced computing power scheduling technology to balance
performance and power consumption, providing a smoother overall user experience
without compromising battery life.
Moreover, ColorOS 14 comes with the Smart
Charging system, which utilizes sophisticated AI algorithms to adapt the
charging current based on individual usage patterns. This intelligent
functionality is designed to reduce battery wear and tear and extend the
overall lifespan of the device. Privacy features now include Picture Keeper,
granting additional permission for accessing specific photos and videos. Smart
Image Matting enables the cropping of multiple people and animals from a photo
or still frame.
The Global Beta Version rollout schedule for ColorOS 14 is provided, with timing varying by region and carrier.
