The Nord 2 Lite 5G is OnePlus' latest smartphone and
the cheapest in the company's current lineup, which is expected to launch on
November 16, 2022. The OnePlus Nord 2 Lite 5G is expected to be a larger and
heavier phone than the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. You wouldn't call it ungainly, but
at 8.5mm thick and 195g in weight, it defies any lightweight expectations you
might have based on its plastic construction. The dimensions of this handset
will be 164.3 x 75.6 x 8.5 mm. The back of the phone has a pretty general
layout and shape, with a typically curved back panel and a tall camera module.
It will be available in Black Disc and Blue Tide colors.
The
display is quite good considering the price of this handset. It's an IPS panel
rather than AMOLED, but at 6.59 inches and delivering 2,412x 1,080 pixels
(401ppi) looks crisp and sharp. 120Hz refresh rate is also suitable for a phone
at this price.
OnePlus Nord 2 Lite will have 3G, 4G, and 5G SA/NSA
bands for its connectivity. The device supports GSM / CDMA / HSPA / LTE / 5G
networks. It has Wi-Fi, dual-band, wireless hotspots, and dual nano SIM slots.
It has no FM radio. USB Type-C2.0 will also be available in this smartphone. The
phone will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro,
proximity, compass, and barometer. Smartphone with Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi
802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual Band, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, HD, aptX Adaptive, GPS
with A-GPS, GALILEO, BDS, and Glonass. It will have dual stereo speakers (2
amplifiers) and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite runs on Qualcomm's
Snapdragon 695 5G, the same low-end chip that powers the similarly priced Poco
X4 Pro 5G. It supports 8GB of RAM, though it can be expanded up to 5GB of
temporary virtual RAM and 128GB of internal storage. OnePlus Nord 2 Lite 5G
comes with an Octa Core 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver and 2x2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold
CPU and Adreno 619 GPU to give the device a much better performance. The
OnePlus Nord 2 Lite 5G ships with Android 12 and the company's custom OxygenOS
12.1 at the top.
OnePlus will be packed this affordable phone with one of those triple camera systems that are a single camera system. You get a 64Mp primary wide-angle sensor, which is all well and good, but then a 2Mp macro and 2Mp depth sensor that doesn't do much. The colors are deep and vibrant without looking completely false, the detail is good, and the dynamic range is on point. It's everything you could want at this price. It works a bit in low light, where the small sensor and lack of optical image stabilization (OIS) start to bite, but I still got usable results with the provided night mode. There's no dedicated telephoto camera, but that primary sensor is pixel-dense enough to make digitally cropped 2x shots look viable.
OnePlus Nord 2 Lite 5G will have a 5000mAh battery
with 33W fast charging support. This is enough to power the OnePlus Nord 2 Lite
5G through a full day of moderate usage (3 hours 30 minutes screen on time)
with over 50%. The 33W fast charger will take you from 0 to 51% in 30 minutes
and 100% in 1 hour 15 minutes.
The expected price of Nord 2 Lite 5G will be 249
USD.
