Vivo iQOO's 9 series flagship phones are probably the most
popular release of 2022 after the tremendous success of the iQOO 7 series. Vivo
iQOO 9 (China) smartphone is released in February 2022. Although Vivo has launched this phone in the Chinese market for the first time, it will eventually be
found in the international market. The chipsets, camera, and battery section
are the main differences between Chinese and global variants.
The layout of the Vivo iQOO 9 (China) is elegant, embracing a sporty
touch added by its textured back and colorful power button. The back has a
uniquely shaped triple camera module, while the front has a small punch hole
with a deficient chin and bezels. However, fingerprints can sometimes be seen.
The 206g smartphone is not a lightweight device, yet it feels premium in hand.
The screen is a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with HDR10 resolution. Thus, content
looks sharp and accurately colored as the refresh rate can go up to 120 Hz with
a peak brightness of 1500 nits, thus making the gaming experience uninterrupted
due to a competent presentation. While the AMOLED screen offers an under-display
fingerprint scanner.
In addition, it has Panda Glass protection, and although
there is no IP rating, the company promises to be splash and dust-resistant.
The phone offers bright color options of black, orange, and white (BMW M
branding). The colors and contrast on the screen are also impressive, with 1
billion color support. Overall, the build, shape, and display are thumbs up.
The chipset and CPU play a major role in the
performance of any device. Qualcomm SM8450 snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset used in iQOO
9 China with Octa-core (1x3.00 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3x2.50 GHz Cortex-A710 &
4x1.80 GHz Cortex-A510) CPU that is the best chipset yet and 10 percent faster
than the 8 Gen 1, to make the performance better it has the best match of GPU
Adreno 730. This phone has the fastest UFS 3.1 with NTFS for external storage,
and comes with four variants are 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM 12GB
RAM + 256GB ROM, and 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM. The phone runs on Android 12, Origin
OS Ocean operating system.
The triple camera setup on the iQOO 9 (China) is equipped
with a 50MP primary lens followed by a 13MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto
sensor. The main camera shots are excellent, with low noise, true colors, and
plenty of dynamic range. Low-light photos are just as good. The 2x optical zoom
results is sharp and detailed images through the telephoto lens. Even so, the
ultrawide is quite capable. The 16MP front camera shots deliver average detail,
plenty of contrast, and a wide dynamic range. On consideration, the video recording
iQOO 9's China rear camera can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps, which are very
accurate and realistic. You can also change lenses while the recording is on.
On top of that, gyro-EIS stabilization ensures smooth photos
and videos, even with moving or shaky hands. The front lens can record 1080p
videos at a maximum of 30 fps. Therefore, there is also a green signal around
the camera.
Vivo iQOO 9 China supports GSM / CDMA / HSPA / CDMA200 /
LTE / 5G networks, which provide the speed of HSPA 42.2 Mbps for download and
5.76 Mbps for upload, and Superfast 5G speeds are also available in the
handset. This device has launched with Dual Nano SIM. The dimension of the
device is 164.5 x 76.7 x 8.4 mm, and the weight is approximately 206 grams.
Smartphone with Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-Band,
Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, HD, aptX Adaptive, USB Type-C 2.0, GPS with A-GPS,

battery supported by 120W fast charging that can charge 100% in 19 minutes. The
iQOO 9 lacks wireless charging but offers 4 to 5 hours of screen time. So, the
battery supply is enough to pull through the day. Also, the battery life is
pretty decent, and you'll get good screen time.
The Vivo iQOO 9 Chinese version starts at $570 and goes up to $619.
